Railway Passenger Transport Organization Following the Modernization of ZapreÅ”iÄ - Zabok Railway Line
The population of Northwestern Croatia is traditionally focused on the railway and gravitates daily to the wider Zagreb area. The most intensive passenger traffic on the ZapreÅ”iÄ ā Varaždin line is realized on the ZapreÅ”iÄ ā Zabok section, and passengers from Äurmanec and Gornja Stubica are also gravitating to Zabok. For this reason it is planned to include mentioned section line in the suburban transportation system of the city of Zagreb. In order to achieve this, its modernization and electrification is needed due to the poor condition, so in this graduate thesis the current and future state of the infrastructure in this area is being considered. For the analysis of the existing and future passenger train organization and train traffic, a computer program for modeling in the railways OpenTrack is used. On the future suburban passenger transport line Zagreb Main Station ā Zabok there are proposed four new variants of passenger train organizations that are compared with different parameters to better define the most suitable variant for this line

Railway Capacity Enhancement with Modern Signalling Systems ā A Literature Review
In times of ever stronger awareness of environmental protection and potentiation of a beneficial modal split, the railway sector with efficient asset utilization and proper investment planning has the highest chance of meeting customer expectations and attracting new users more effectively. Continuous increase in railway demand leads to an increase in the utilization of railway infrastructure, and the inevitable lack of capacity, a burning problem that many national railways are continually facing. To address it more effectively, this paper reviews available methodologies for railway capacity determination and techniques for its enhancement in the recent scientific literature. Particular focus is given to the possibility of increasing railway capacity through signalling systems and installing the European Train Control System (ETCS). The most important relationships with segments of existing research have been identified, and in line with this, the directions for a potential continuation of research are suggested
Mechanics of Solid Bodies Applied to the Skeleton of Engine Driver
There are explored conditions under which the statics of solid bodies is
applied to the human body, and using it determine the numerical indicators of the
physical load in the engine driver, as a result of inadequate driverās cab design on the
locomotive or railcar. Based on really measured statistical anthropometric measures
on a random sample of 51 engine drivers, it has been proven that the random sample
is sufficient to represent the whole population of the engine drivers and that there is
correlation dependence of lumbar moment on the body mass index in the
hypothetically most unfavourable statistical seating working position. With reference
to the current state of driver's cab of available locomotives and railcars in Croatia,
there is presented the proposal of guidelines for their better ergonomic suitability

Method for Designing Robust and Energy Efficient Railway Schedules
The robustness of the timetable is a sensitive issue in the daily realization of railway operations. As shown in the paper, robustness is a function of time reserves that helps to prevent unscheduled stops resulting from traffic disruptions and causing a higher energy consumption. The correct handling of time reserves while scheduling is a multidimensional issue, and it has a significant influence on the energy consumption of railway traffic. Therefore, the paper aims to show a simulation-based method, taking into account failure occurring probabilities and their consequences to get an acceptable level of robustness, that can be quantified by the probability of no delay propagation. This paper presents a method for the addition of time margins to the railway timetable. The iterative time buffer adding method is based on operational data as a knowledge source, to achieve the punctuality target. It was verified on a real railway line. An analysis of energy consumption for unscheduled train stops depending on the added buffer time was conducted after the literature review and the presentation of the evaluation model. The paper ends with discussion of the results and conclusions
